Armenian PM Sarksyan quits after 11 days of street protests

By Hasmik Mkrtchyan YEREVAN (Reuters) - Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sarksyan said on Monday he was resigning to help safeguard civic peace following almost two weeks of mass street protests that have plunged the impoverished ex-Soviet republic into political crisis. Sarksyan, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, had served as Armenia's president for a decade until this month and had faced accusations of clinging to power when parliament elected him as prime minister last week. Pressure on the 63-year-old to quit had increased sharply on Monday when unarmed soldiers in the capital Yerevan joined the anti-government protests, which first erupted on April 13.

John Oliver compares Trump's Iran deal stance to a cat on an airplane

John Oliver compares Trump's Iran deal stance to a cat on an airplane

When faced with a "will he, won't he" question, Trump always picks the worst answer, and John Oliver is here to explain his next big mistake. On Last Week Tonight last night, Oliver talked about Trump's upcoming Iran Deal decision, why Trump hates the Iran Deal so much, and what would happen if he kills it. It's hilarious yet disturbing. Oliver first points out how much Trump pretends to know about the Iran Deal, with clips of Trump citing elements of the deal that don't exist.  "Let's be absolutely clear here, Donald Trump has never studied anything in great detail," Oliver said. "If you asked him what color his wife's eyes are, he would say '34D, but firm.'" Oliver then focuses on the biggest issues Trump has with the Iran Deal, one of which being that it expires in 10 years, which will be a problem when the time comes. This sends Oliver into a frantic rant about how if Trump kills the deal now, 0 years is much less than 10 years in working through that problem. He also berates Trump for thinking that he can just be against something without any plan for what comes afterward, comparing Trump to a cat on an airplane trying to escape its carrier. "OK, but if you get out, then what?" Trump is set to make his decision on the Iran Deal by May 12, and unless he completely changes his mind on it, Oliver says, he will probably kill it.

China's First Homemade Carrier Is Preparing for War

The unnamed carrier was seen moving out of Dalian shipyard for sea trials. The Beijing-based Global Times has said the first locally made carrier, not yet christened, is likely to be ready for combat “within two years” after its expected delivery to the navy by the end of this year. Photos and video clips appearing online since Monday morning confirm that China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier has started its maiden voyage.
