Supreme Court sides with church in landmark decision on state funding for religious organisations

The US Supreme Court has ruled in favour of a Missouri church seeking state funding in a case that tests the boundaries of separation between church and state. The case concerns Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia, Missouri, which applied for a grant from the Department of Natural Resources to help renovate their preschool's playground. The state rejected the church's application, citing a strict policy against funding programmes controlled by a religious entity.

U.S. to work with Israel, seek other ties to combat cyber attacks

By Steven Scheer TEL AVIV (Reuters) - The U.S. government will seek to collaborate with Israel and other countries to develop new ways to thwart computer hacks and other cyber attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump’s homeland security adviser said on Monday. Thomas Bossert, assistant to the president for homeland security and counter-terrorism, said a U.S.-Israeli working group will meet this week on cybersecurity issues such as protecting critical infrastructure. The U.S. team will include representatives of the State Department, Homeland Security and FBI and work with their Israeli counterparts.

Ford testing plug-in hybrid Escape

The possibility of a plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Escape dates back as far as 2009 when Ford actually took a prototype to the Detroit Auto Show, and a small batch of them were handed over to a California utility to be tried out. It now seems as though a plug-in hybrid variant of the current model could finally be arriving in showrooms for sale to the public, and it could possibly be unveiled as soon as next year. Although Ford has confirmed it's currently testing a new Escape PHEV prototype, no details have yet been released regarding the expected range, how it's likely to perform, or how much it will eventually cost to buy.
